Our life is full of stressors that will trigger stress, thus fighting insomnia is the last thing anyone needs in their life. Occasionally we all lose sleep during our night hours. There will always be a time when our minds refuse to relax during sleeping hours. There are many reasons why sleep will not come and few of them can be linked to excitement or stress. Other factors such as drinking coffee or other caffeine-based beverage at night can also prevent our sleep. You might think that alcohol can bring relax to our mind, but actually it does the opposite. Alcohol should be avoided at night since even if you do fall asleep your will lose REM sleep, which is needed to feel relaxed.

If you had an excitement during the day and very pleased, you may lose a night sleep dwelling on the day. There are various reasons can cause a person to lose their sleep, however if sleepless nights persist you perhaps need some helps, since acute insomnia can lead to chronic insomnia and even extend to death.

Yes, if a person continues to lose their sleep their body will be affected immensely. People with a chronic level of insomnia may later in life endure heart problems. Heart attacks, strokes, high-blood pressure, diabetes and other major illnesses are common diseases for those that suffer ongoing insomnia throughout their lifetime.

If you are under ongoing insomnia attacks, it is important for you to seek medical treatment soon. The doctor should do a series of testing to find out any medical ailments that may be causing the insomnia. After the testing if the doctor finds any reasons that causing your insomnia you will be prescribed medications. You have to follow the doctor’s directions to the max to find relief. The insomnia medications may be bringing a few side affects to you, but the affects will not last long. Any side affects are often short lived and it is understandable since your body must adjust to the changes.

If you have any medical conditions that are causing sleepless nights you can consult to your doctor for certain diet and exercise. Many studies have shown that those that exercise regularly and eat properly often-live longer, healthier lifestyles and rarely suffer insomnia attacks. If your doctor instructs you to do exercise, follow it. Just make sure that you do the exercises during day hours and not before you are going to bed. Exercises will promote your adrenaline enzyme that is increasing the body’s energy level. Many experts recommend exercising early in the morning; since it can help your body to get a good start up on working properly during the day hours.

Diet is very good for nourishing your body and mind and will be promoting healthier life spans and helping your mind find a source of relaxation. You will have to include vegetables, proper amount of Carbs, fruits and other proper nutrition into your menu for a healthier life.

If you drink alcohol, you may want to stop this habit or at least slow it down, and especially avoid drinking alcohol during night hours. Alcohol will cause sleepless nights and even if you are able to go to sleep at night, your will not receive REM sleep. Caffeine based beverages should also be avoided at least five hours before your bedtime. Nicotine from cigarettes will also affect your body negatively, thus avoiding smoking cigarettes before bedtime is essential for a restful night.

You can try to listen to soft music that relaxes the mind if you still find it hard to sleep during the nights. Some people say that they easy to fall a sleep while the television is playing. You need to keep the sound level low. You can also try to read a good book also. Many people read at their night to help relaxes their mind or bores the mind and the person is able to fall a sleep.

There are many steps you can take when you are having difficulty falling a sleep. I have to emphasize here that if you are under ongoing sleep problems then you will have to contact your doctor since any medical problems may exist. Learn how to exercise your body and diet properly again. It is essential for you since your body and mind will get the proper nutrition and energy level to survive. Fresh air has also been proved can help the body and mind relax. Try to get fresh air if you are having some sleepless night. Many people find healing fresh air can relax their mind.

Although SleepKey can be used as part of the treatment outlined by your health professional, this program was designed to provide behavioral strategies for insomnia with minimal professional assistance. SleepKey was developed with grants from the National Institute of Health and in consultation with leading insomnia experts.

Whenever you’re in bed, SleepKey determines if you are awake or asleep based on whether or not you respond to a vibration or a low-volume tone. After assessing your sleep pattern for a week, SleepKey schedules a time for you to go to bed each night. Initially, this time-to-bed will be later than you are accustomed to, but SleepKey will continue to assess your sleep each night and then gradually adjust your time-to-bed until a normal sleep pattern is restored. SleepKey will also prompt you to get up if you are in bed too long without falling asleep. This program feature will train you to associate lying in bed with going to sleep, not staying awake. Throughout the program, SleepKey will give you feedback on your progress.

Why SleepKey?
It’s simple. SleepKey restores your natural sleep patterns gradually and easily. It’s regarded as one of the most effective treatments for sleeping difficulties, and it fits in the palm of your hand. Developed and evaluated with grants from the United States National Institute of Health, the SleepKey naturally restores your sleep without drug side effects or addiction. Tailored to your unique sleep pattern, this device is for anyone who is having troubles with their sleep-wake patterns. And it is easy to use; while you’re in bed, press the awake key if you hear a low-volume tone or feel a vibration, and let SleepKey do the rest. SleepKey will help you return to a normal and restful night’s sleep, one night at a time.

SleepKey develops a personalized, three-stage sleep restoration plan. Stage 1 lasts seven days. During this stage, SleepKey records your sleep pattern while your in bed based on your response to a low-volume tone or vibration. From this data, SleepKey helps you develop a regular wake-up time. Stage 2 follows immediately and can last 2-4 weeks. Based on your sleep pattern established in week one, SleepKey sets your bedtime and prompts you to get out of bed if you are not sleeping so that most of your time in bed is spent asleep. SleepKey then gradually adjusts your bedtime until you are getting a full night’s sleep. The third and final stage last indefinitely. The bottom line is that SleepKey will help you maintain a full and restful sleep pattern for as long as wish to use the device.

What is Insomnia?
When you sleep according to your natural sleep-wake cycle, you should wake up feeling refreshed and well-rested. However, when your natural pattern of sleep is disrupted, you may experience insomnia, which can cause distress or interfere with daily functions. Most people experience brief bouts of insomnia, often caused by stress, physical discomfort, medication side effects, or a change in sleep schedule, such as jet lag. These acute episodes of insomnia typically last only a night or two until the situation that caused the sleep disturbance is resolved. Generally, after the situation is remedied, sleep returns to normal. Yet, about 10 percent of the population experience what is known as chronic insomnia, a sleep problem that can last for months or even years.

If a person experiences insomnia for a month or more, some form of treatment may be needed to restore restful sleep. There are many factors that can disrupt the normal sleep pattern to produce insomnia. These factors are commonly divided into Primary Insomnia and Secondary Insomnia. Primary Insomnia is a common sleep disorder and is not caused by any known physical or mental condition. Typically, it results from developed patterns of sleep behavior that interfere with the natural sleep-wake pattern. Secondary Insomnia differs from Primary Insomnia in that a specific medical or emotional condition is associated with the cause of the sleep disturbance. Secondary Insomnia maybe caused by sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, common medical problems (allergies, arthritis, heart disease, and more), substance use or withdrawal, or emotional problems (depression, anxiety, and others).

SleepKey Warnings
Because insomnia can be cause by such a wide array of conditions, it is important that you talk to your physician about your insomnia and what may be causing it. Your physician will probably ask you a number of questions about your sleep pattern and history, and may order tests to make sure that there are no other medical conditions causing your insomnia. It is important to know the cause of your insomnia before you consider treatments. Consult your physician before beginning any treatment for sleep disorders. Read More

When insomnia approaches, it is next to impossible to get rid of the sleeping interruption unless you have the right steps to take on the road to recovery. Insomnia can lead to major health issues if not taking care of immediately. If you notice any signs of sleeplessness, anxiety, tension, depression, or nervousness then it is time to get help.

Many people that suffer insomnia often endure headaches, sleepless nights, fatigue, lack of concentration and so forth. Few sleeping disorders that include insomnia may be temporary disorders and easily treated. For example, Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is one of the widespread disorders that affect millions each season, however, the disorder is easily treated if treatment is sought out right away. The disorder generally attacks between seasons, leaving the patient to endure insomnia. While Seasonal Affective Disorders are often treated with fluorescent lights, other disorders call for drastic measures.

Since stress is one of the leading causes of insomnia, we can see that techniques are necessary to reduce stress, minimize stressors and focus on management to relieve insomnia. Few of the techniques used in the reducing stress include, breathing techniques, PMRT or rather progressive muscle relaxation training and exercise. While this list is merely a few techniques for relieving stress, certainly the priceless tactics have saved many.

When stressful changes occur it is time to take notice right away since stress can lead to heart attacks, strokes, and other disastrous experiences as a result of lack of sleep and relaxation. Rhythmic Breathing is one of the easier techniques used in the treatment of insomnia. However, in my experience combining rhythmic breathing with PMRT and self-hypnosis has increased the ability to reduce stress, cope with stressors and find a source of relaxation that leads to sleep. Of course, exercise, proper diet, and self-talk fit into the picture when it comes to finding resolve from insomnia and stress.

Rhythmic Breathing Techniques entail learning how to inhale and exhale between breaths on a number of counts, rather the person learns to hold in breaths and let the breaths out slowly for a number of times. The technique helps to minimize stress, but the strategy is temporary. Thus, to relieve long-term stress and insomnia the person must learn consistency and persistency to maintain a stable ground. Therefore, rhythmic breathing is a start, but it is a long way from recovery.

Progressive muscle relaxation training is a great start after the rhythmic breathing techniques learned. The progressive muscle relaxation training may include self-hypnosis, which is a great source for relaxation. Self hypnosis may scare few but to the contrary the tactic is easy after it is learnt a couple of times and there is nothing to be frighten of, since if you learn well you are on your way to relaxation, which reduces stress and helps a person sleep.

To get started on self-hypnosis you must find a restful area and extract any thoughts from the mind. The mind must find an area of relaxation in order for hypnosis to take place. After the mind is relaxed, the person can then start a count if this is part of the procedure and work slowly into a progressive relaxed muscle state. The muscles should not feel any tension, nor should the body experience any stress. Hypnotism is sort of mediation, however, the different levels work differently since this procedure is to totally relax the mind rather than encourage the mind to recall a repressed experience. After you master the technique, you can move onto to various other levels in reducing stress and eliminating insomnia.

Exercise is said to be one of the best techniques available to relieve stress and insomnia. Since insomnia is not without stress, then certain types of exercises are needed to make the procedure work properly. Stress and insomnia both lead to major heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, high-blood pressure, and so forth. Since the heart, body, joints, nerves, mind and other elements that make up the body are affected negatively by insomnia and stress, and then cardiovascular exercises should be included in the exercise scheme to recover. Finally, don’t forget diet, since a proper diet can go a long way in the recovery of insomnia.

I have spent several sleepless nights in the past month, the humidity has been terrible in the Carolinas. Added to that, the thoughts that make you feel like the day is incomplete. Here is a wonderful animated film that captures some of … more

Insomnia is a sleep disorder characterized by an inability to sleep and/or inability to remain asleep for a reasonable period. Insomniacs typically complain of being unable to close their eyes or “rest their mind” for more than a few minutes at a time. It’s estimated that 60 million Americans suffer from some form of sleep disorder. Insomnia can be caused by fear, stress, anxiety, medications, herbs, caffeine, depression, bipolar disorder, emotional or mental tension, work problems, financial stress, unsatisfactory sex life and sometimes occurs for no apparent reason. An overactive mind or physical pain may also be causes.

There are 3 types of insomnia

Three types of insomnia exist: transient, acute, and chronic. Transient insomnia lasts from one night to a few weeks. Most people occasionally suffer from transient insomnia due to such causes as jet lag or short-term anxiety. If this form of insomnia continues to occur from time to time, the insomnia is classified as intermittent.

Acute insomnia is the inability to consistently sleep well for a period of between three weeks to six months. Chronic insomnia is regarded as the most serious; persists almost nightly for at least a month. Regardless of the type, the affects of insomnia can dramatically degrade quality of life and ability to function.

I’ve been bookmarking insomnia articles when I can’t sleep. One was about a recent study about how you can’t regain sleep you’ve lost, which I’ve read before. I’ve never had any luck myself in catching up. Another talks about a theory … more

Insomnia Medications

Many people suffering from insomnia depend on sleeping tablets and other sedatives. There are many over the counter and prescription options. All sedative drugs have the potential of causing psychological dependence which basically means that the individual believes that they cannot sleep without the medication.

Certain types of sedatives can even cause physical addiction which shows up as withdrawal symptoms if the drug is not slowly ‘weaned’ off. A non exhaustive list of potential side effects from some of these drugs includes: drowsiness, memory loss, schizophrenia, headaches, dizziness, nausea, diarrhoea and constipation.

When people ask me for the “secrets” to a good night’s sleep — and avoiding insomnia — I often start by explaining how to have a Power Down hour prior to bedtime. This is when you relax and remove yourself from the tasks and chores of … more

Other Treatments

There are several natural approaches that may offer some relief. Natural herbs such as valerian, chamomile, lavender, hops, and passion-flower may help. Some studies have shown that a magnesium deficiency may also contribute to insomnia. Supplementing magnesium or increasing consumption of magnesium rich foods (leafy greens, vegetables, cashew nuts) may help.

Some traditional remedies include drinking warm milk before bedtime, taking a warm bath in the evening; exercising (before evening time), eating a large lunch and then having only a light evening meal at least three hours before bed, avoiding mentally stimulating activities in the evening hours, and making sure to get up early in the morning and to retire to bed at a reasonable hour.

That’s just one out of over 300 deadly maladies in the new book by Knock Knock, called “The Complete Manual of THINGS THAT MIGHT KILL YOU: a Guide to Self-Diagnosis for Hypochondriacs.” This would make a fun gift for anyone in the .. more

Aromatherapy, including jasmine oil, lavender oil, Mahabhringaraj and other relaxing essential oils, may also help induce a state of restfulness.

Many believe that listening to slow paced music will help induce sleep

Relaxation techniques such as meditation may help as well. Such techniques can lower stress levels from both the mind and body, which leads to a deeper, more restful sleep.

Alcohol may help induce sleep, but may actually limit the body and brain’s ability to reach the level of deep sleep required for rejuvenation. In addition, if excessive alcohol is consumed, most of us have experienced the resulting morning after dehydration and hangover.

Potential Cure?

Recent research has shown that the capacity to fall asleep and stay in a deep sleep is a skill that the brain can learn. The brain operates at different frequencies depending on what function it is performing. The frequency during waking periods is much faster then when you are sleeping.

There is a technology called brainwave entrainment that can deliberately alter the brainwave frequency. Brainwave entrainment is an audio process where one sound frequency is introduced into the left ear and a different sound frequency is introduced into the right ear.

What happens is that the two different frequencies are registered in your brain as one unique frequency and both your left and right brain functions move to synchronize to this perceived frequency.

Using this process, the brain can be automatically guided to the frequency associated with sleep. The short term benefits are sleep induction in the user during use of the technology. Longer term, it was found that over time, the brain learned to move to the sleep frequency without the use of the entrainment process.

In short, the brain was taught to move itself naturally into a sleep function. One of the most popular sources of this technology is http://www.sleeptracksonline.com . It has solid research behind it and has received a significant amount of positive reviews.

This entrainment process could be the solution that insomniacs are looking for. Medications come with host of potential problems including side effects and addictions.

Natural products offer less side effects but many users report limited benefits and require ongoing use. Brainwave entrainment is both safe and natural, is not addictive and over time has been shown excellent results in long-term relief of insomnia.

Acute insomnia is different with chronic insomnia since acute insomnia only comes around occasionally. An acute insomnia often appears with mild symptoms during its attack. The person who suffers it may also suffer anxiety, panic attacks, sleepless nights, and so forth. The acute insomnia attacks are rarely prolonged like that of chronic insomnia one. Acute insomnia may also occur after a death in the family member, during a change in job position at work, new baby arrivals, changing in certain medications and so forth. The acute insomnia attacks may last a week or so and then just disappear. So, if you are suffering –or think are- acute insomnia you perhaps need to learn some tactics to reduce your stress that will help you cope with this short illness. However, when these symptoms of insomnia and attack continue, it is possible you need a certain medical care.

A chronic insomnia, on the other hand, can last for weeks, months, and even years. When a person is often feeling frustrated during the day hours and can upset easily, this person is showing chronic insomnia signs. Other symptoms just like lasting anxiety attacks, panic attacks, fatigue, and so forth are additional signs of a chronic insomnia. If you experience a chronic insomnia symptom as above, then you will need to visit your doctor first and make sure there is no medical problems that are causing the insomnia. And if after you visit the doctor and there is no medical ailment are causing insomnia then you perhaps will need mental health assistance. Once you visit a mental health office in your area an Intake worker will evaluate your case by asking a series of questions and setup two different diagnoses to get you a visit to a counselor. Do not be alarmed of the diagnoses since it is necessary for insurance purposes.

At the counselors visit you will be similar questions, which the counselor will assess your case and most likely setup an appointment to visit the psychologist or psychiatrist on staff. This visit will last about 20 minutes to 45 minutes and then you will be prescribed medications. Be sure to follow the doctor’s advice to the fullest and let the doctor know how you are responding to the medications. If the medication fails to work it is possible you do not have the right dosage or else medications may be dismissed and new medicines provided. Remember that it will take a few days for the medicines to get in your body system and begin to work. Just make sure that you understand all the side affects of the medications to avoid panic. You may also want to add a few stress reducers in your schedule to assist the medications.

For acute insomnia, adding stress reducers can go a long way. Acute insomnia may occur as a result of environmental changes, thus if the lighting in your room has changed, then you may want to adjust the lights. Environmental changes such as noise pollution can also trigger acute insomnia. If you recently moved to a noisy area, you may want to find a solution, such as shutting your windows and running a fan.

Acute insomnia may also occur when a new baby arrives. Few mothers may suffer the baby blues when a child is born. The blues will cause insomnia temporary and medications perhaps will be needed. If you recently had a baby and suffering insomnia, panic attacks, nervousness, anxiety and so forth, be sure to tell your doctor so the right medications can be given to minimize the problem. However, your baby is a welcoming challenge, thus your baby needs your undivided attention and insomnia and suffering is only getting in the way.

It is also possible to suffer an acute insomnia when a death occurs in the family member. It is important for you to realize that the death is not your fault and death is going to happen regardless of what you do to try to change it. If you are suffering insomnia because of a death in the family, try to remember that the deceased is no longer suffering. The deceased is in a better place than you are and his/her worries have ended. You may want to take short walks during the day and admire the beauty around you. During night, hours avoid alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, and other harmful substances and chemicals that prevent sleep. Finally, you may want to practice rhythmical breathing tactics to help you relax during sleep hours.

Your behaviors can affect the mind and lead to insomnia. If you are drinking out of the ordinary, taking drugs or behaving inappropriately, and committing crimes the mind is filled with chaos and insomnia often will rule your life.

Behaviors are learned patterns throughout a person’s life. While alcoholism is hereditary of learned, there is still help, since this illness will affect the mind and cause a person to lose REM sleep. REM stands for Rapid Eye Movement and REM sleep is the process of the mind that occurs at regular intervals more than a few times during normal sleeping patterns and are characterized by augmented neuronal activity of the ‘forebrain and midbrain.” The process is conducted through a process of depressed muscle tone. In other words, this is the rapid eye movement dream state of the mind.

When the mind is not receiving proper rest, it is often because the mind is chaotic due to stress. If a person is not eating right or exercising the body and drinking and/or drugging heavily the mind lacks the proper relax state it needs to shutdown during resting hours. If a person is constantly getting into trouble, then the mind is often overwhelmed because guilt is consuming the persons mind. Even if the person does not have the ability to express emotions, guilt is buried within the mind, thus controlling the mind and causing the person to lose sleep.

Children nowadays are suffering insomnia simply because many of them play video games all through the night hours, watch television, or else stay up all night on the computers. Technology has become a major problem for people today, since new learned behaviors are setting in and controlling millions of minds every day. If you are suffering insomnia due to behavior patterns, it is time to take the steps to stop the behaviors and work toward a new sleeping pattern. One child told me yesterday that he stayed up to 3 a.m. playing video games and when he woke the next day, he suffered from a headache.

As you can see insomnia, or sleepless nights can cause headaches, anxiety, anger, panic attacks, eating disorders, and so forth. When the mind is not receiving proper rest, a person often fails to nourish the body with the appropriate nutrition’s, thus now we have other problems growing in a life.

Insomnia is one of the leading problems in America. Statistics state that in England alone that more than “98%” of the people were admitted to the hospital for insomnia attacks and most of the patients stayed in care for as long as three days. The statistics further show that more than “32 million” Americans alone suffering insomnia.

Thus, insomnia extends to cancer patients, mental patients, medical patients, and patients with disturbing behavior patterns. While statistics are mere figures estimated on a set of people, it will never be clear as to how many people are actually affected by insomnia.

If you are suffering insomnia, you may want to ask your self, “Are your behaviors causing the problem.” If you are staying up all night to play video games, then you will need to learn a management scheme to time management scheme that will help you to control your behaviors and fight insomnia. If you are not willing to take the first step to fighting insomnia, ask your self “Are you prepared to face medical conditions later in your life?” If you are willing to continue risking your health for a few hours of entertainment then prepare to face possible high-blood pressure, diabetes, heart failures and so forth.

Other cases of insomnia are not necessary linked to behavior problems. Rather many people suffer mental illnesses and medical conditions that are causing insomnia. If you or a loved one is enduring insomnia, you will need medical exams to weed out medical ailments that may be causing the insomnia. Otherwise, if medical tests were conducted and nothing was found that linked insomnia, thus mental help may be needed to resolve the problem, or else find relief. Finally, think about your behaviors and ask your self, “What am I doing to cause insomnia.”

There are many factors that cause insomnia can be linked to various mental disorders. That’s why in many insomnia cases the patients require counseling assistance. A person who suffers insomnia over a certain length of time usually the real problem is not the insomnia, it could be a medical or mental ailment that enforce the sleepless nights. When this people mind is loaded with chaos and unresolved questions then the mind will often rebel and the person will have difficulty falling into a REM sleep.

Bipolar patients often have difficulty falling asleep during night hours until medication is if puts the chemicals in the brain back on track. Bipolar patients often have a chemical imbalance that affects the central nervous system and targets the area of the brain were relaxation should exist. When the mind is filled with ongoing thoughts during waking and sleeping hours the mind will continue on a journey until exhaustion sets in and then the person becomes anxious, panicky, nervous, angry, and so forth. The person will often find it hard to cope during waking hours and when the person is in the present of others may find it difficult to put a lid on it when anger boils.

Other mental ailments, imbalances or disorders cause insomnia. As a rule, there is no such thing as a mental ailment or disorder without insomnia. Sleeping disorders differ slightly from mental disorders, in that sleeping disorders are easier to treat with florescent lights, medications and therapeutic steps. Mental disorders such as Posttraumatic Stress Disorder are often difficult to relieve the mind, since treatment for this disorder is ongoing. Posttraumatic Stress Disorders are caused from trauma and many of the patients that suffer the disorder often have experienced ongoing trauma. There are lighter versions of the diagnose that is easier to treat, however a severe case of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder-PTSD will require years of treatment and medications.

Schizophrenia, Psychosis, Schizoids, and other major mental ailments, disorders and damage of the brain will also take years to treat for the problems, including insomnia. insomnia for these patients are tricky, since some times the patient is able to sleep without problem, while other times lasting insomnia attacks takes control of the persons life. The problem is, we have three different diagnoses that when the mind is not relating to reality can lead to danger, thus sleep is essential for these patients to avoid harm to self and/or others. Psychiatrist and psychologist alike often treat such patients with medications and the patients are often required to attend therapy throughout his or her lifetime. In other words, some cases of insomnia linked to mental is ongoing for life, still help is available.

Medical problems such as chronic pain may cause insomnia to last throughout the person’s life if little help is available for the pain. For example, if a person broke the spinal area by a fall, thus, surgeries may help, but the pain will exist throughout the person’s life in many cases. When a person is suffering pain they often find it difficult to sleep at night, thus insomnia is mastered only when the pain is subdued.

Unfortunately, few people suffering insomnia seek help through alcohol and/or drugs. The alcohol and/or drugs will increase stress thus enforcing insomnia throughout the person’s life until help is available. During night hours when sleep is ready, the last thing anyone should do is smoke, drink, exercise, or takes any substance or chemical that sparks the mind. Exercise is a great stress reliever and can help a person sleep over time, but exercise should not be carried out at least ‘three’ hours before bedtime. The best time to exercise is during the day hours.

When a person suffers insomnia it is wise to visit a physician before taking further action, since weeding out medical problems can provide a deeper insight of what may be occurring in the person’s life. Visiting the doctor is great, since if the doctor finds a linking ailment of the body, linking it to insomnia you are one-step closer to sleeping well at night. Don’t delay get help now!

Stress is often considered as one factor that can causes insomnia, no matter whether the it is acute or chronic insomnia. People can stress caused by the overwhelming bills for instance, or else caused by traumatic situation such as a death family member. People may also endure stress when other person, the boss i.e., sets high standards for him or her. There are actually many factors that may cause stress, which in turns can also lead someone in insomnia.

Sometime people set a high standard for his or her self; the person must come to a degree of understanding that no one is perfect. Regardless, of the tasks you achieve or fail to finish it is important to realize that imperfections often prevent us from achieving to a higher level than normal. If you completed a task to the best of your ability then you have accomplished something in your life and should reward your self accordingly. If you failed to complete a task you should ask your self what happen that made you lack the skills to complete the task and move forward rather than beating your self down.

Few people will beat them self down, thus overloading the mind and leading to insomnia. If you feel you are the target of rejection, remember that NO is a good thing, since if someone tells you no they often have your best interest at heart. For example, maybe you want to go dancing with your friends and your parents tell you it is not a good idea, thus your parents are showing you care, rather than rejecting your idea. Unfortunately, people lose sleep over the simplest stressors, and allow the stressors to progress to anger, stress, misery and so forth. The mind eventually becomes tired of the negative thinking and resists sleep when it is time to rest.

Insomnia may occur when a death stresses a family. Thus, this negative event can be turned into a positive occasion. Sounds nuts, but the truth is none of us have control over death, thus it is not your fault that the death occurred. The deceased is now resting peaceful and does not have to suffer the many stresses and illnesses that life brings our way. When my mother passed on I fought through depression, anxiety, grief, stress and so forth, but today I realize that we made it through a hard time and have learned to replace my mother’s absence with new relationships. I have accepted that my mother’s death was not my fault; rather her death was inevitable, since her health was deteriorating. There is nothing we can do about death, thus allowing stress to take control and insomnia affect our health is ludicrous, since it is helping no one.

Some people will dwell on mistakes, beating them self down to the point of insomnia. Again, no one is perfect and all of us will make mistakes throughout our lifetime, and some of those mistakes may be bigger than other mistakes. Thus, learning to let go is essential to prevent depression, anxiety and insomnia. When you make a mistake learn from the error and move ahead.

A controlling individual may suffer insomnia, since the mind is consumed in controlling others. When you feel you must control everything around you, try to think about how you feel when you are controlled. It is important to realize that none of us has control all the time, but some of us have control some of the time.

Persons with mental ailments or disorders often suffer insomnia. When mental ailments or disorders are involved often medications and therapy is needed to help the person cope with insomnia and stress. Many people suffering mental illnesses find it difficult to deal with the simplest stressors and thus stress escalates until insomnia takes over.

Persons suffering medical ailments may endure insomnia. Thus, getting medical treatment can help you fall to sleep, avoid stress and relieve insomniac symptoms.

Another find on digg. Very good.

“If you are a night owl, and that works for you, I think that’s great. There’s no reason to change, especially if you’re happy with it. But for me, switching from being a night owl to an early riser (and yes, it is possible) has been a godsend. It has helped me in so many ways that I’d never go back. Here are just a few.”

Chosen comment:
for the people saying it doesnt matter when you go to sleep, you still get the same hours in the day, that doesnt work for me at least. say if i go to bed at 2am and get up at 9. thats 7 hours of sleep but i still feel tired and not rejuvenated. if i go to bed at 11 and get up at 6 its the same hours but i feel rejuvenated and function a lot better, saving time.

i will never be a night owl when im by myself at least. i work 3x as slow and get distracted very easily. when people tell me that they stayed up until 5am finishing a project, im like i got up at 3am to finish my project lol.

when i do things, even unimportant things in the morning it feels so much better. for example, make a good breakfast and watch a short movie before you start your day. its amazing to think that you have already watched a movie before your day even started.
